Dorothy Indulges the Cyclone, 24" x 24", textile collage on birch board, framed
"Dorothy Indulges the Cyclone" is a framed 24" x 24" textile collage. Ironic that my mother's name was Dorothy, like in the Wizard of Oz. I didn't realize the movie reference until I was drawing the cyclone, and it struck me. Actually this is a family portrait of sorts - my father being the cyclone.
This piece seems apropos with so many women coming forward about harassment and abuse recently. But sometimes women don't. Sometimes they keep silent even when their silence puts their own daughters at risk.
"Dorothy Indulges the Cyclone" is another piece in my series exploring the balance (and often the imbalance) of our feminine and masculine energies.
