"Ariadne" is a stained glass mosaic in a recycled wood window frame, 25.75" tall x 22" wide. This is an original stained glass mosaic using the glass-on-glass method, utilizing recycled materials. It has hanging-chain attached to either side of the frame for hanging easily in your window at home.
Ariadne was the daughter of King Minos of Crete in Greek mythology. She helped Theseus escape her father's labyrinth by giving him a glittering ball of thread. Theseus unspooled the thread as he entered the dark maze, slew the Minotaur then used the glittering thread to find his way out.
Ariadne fled Crete with Theseus but when Dionysus found them asleep, he convinced Theseus to leave Ariadne so he could marry her instead. Of course, she was upset at first, but she got over it and fell in love with Dionysus. After all, as the god of wine and parties, he was probably a lot more fun than Theseus.
